Scripture for the day:

I pray that this blesses someone today.

Jude 1:17-25 But you, beloved, remember the words spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. 18 They said to you: In the last time there will be mockers (scoffers), walking after their own ungodly lusts. 19 These cause divisions; they are sensual (worldly-minded) persons not having the Spirit.

20 You, beloved, build yourself up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. 21 Stay in the love of God! Look (wait) for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for everlasting life. 22 Show mercy to some who have doubt. 23 Save some, snatch them out of the fire. Have mercy on some with alarm. Hate even the garment defiled (polluted) by the flesh.

24 Now to him that is able to guard you from stumbling, and to set you before the presence of his glory without blemish with exceeding joy. 25 To the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord. There is glory, majesty, dominion, and power, before all time, now, and for evermore, amen. (NSB)

Announcement:

I am excited to announce a major breakthrough for the Sound Truth Ministry website: it now properly displays content on mobile devices (cell phones). Without getting too technical, things did not show the content as it should without switching to ‘full site view’ (a Jetpack mobile theme feature).

For WordPress.org website owner’s:

The solution was simple and I am embarrassed to admit it. My theme is Tempura which is a responsive theme. Unfortunately, Jetpack’s ‘mobile theme’ was overriding Tempura’s mobile design. If your site does not display correctly and you are using Jetpack, go to Jetpack settings and deactivate ‘mobile theme’. Let me know if this was helpful.

Please give us another chance

If you visited the website (using your cell phone) prior to Friday, June 17, 2016, please give it another shot. My sincere apologies for not correcting the problem sooner. I noticed a few days ago that Google AdWords code was showing on my cell phone. After making changes to multiple posts I decided to

bible study, Uncategorized

Spend part of your day in the Word of God. Go to the latest Sound Truth Ministry Bible study: “Respect God; It is Absolutely Good Advice For Life” the link to this Bible study.

Message in the picture:

“Respect God – Be in awe of, worship and obey Him”

Scripture for the day:

Hebrews 12:28-29 Let us be thankful, because we will receive a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Let us be grateful and worship (serve) (intensely adore) God in a way that will please him, with reverence and awe. 29 Our God is a destroying (consuming) fire. (NSB)

Hebrews 12:25-29 Be careful and don’t refuse to listen when God speaks. Those people refused to listen to him when he warned them on earth. And they did not escape. Now God is speaking from heaven. So now it will be worse for those who refuse to listen to him. 26 When he spoke before, his voice shook the earth. But now he has promised, “Once again I will shake the earth, but I will also shake heaven.” 27 The words “once again” clearly show us that everything that was created will be destroyed—that is, the things that can be shaken. And only what cannot be shaken will remain.

28 So we should be thankful because we have a kingdom that cannot be shaken. And because we are thankful, we should worship God in a way that will please him. We should do this with respect and fear, 29 because our God is like a fire that can destroy us. (Easy to Read Version)

Scripture for the day:

2 Corinthians 6:6-7 We show that we are God’s servants by our pure lives, by our understanding, by our patience, and by our kindness. Patience from God; Endure Life Troubles with Genuine Joy

Do you find yourself asking God for patience? If you are born again, you have it. Patience (long suffering per KJV) is part of the gift packaged with the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Some may not understand what the fruit of the Spirit means.

In short, they are attributes or characteristics of God that we get through the Holy Spirit when born again. Similar to getting traits, features, and abilities from our biological parents at birth through DNA.

So, if you ask anything, ask for knowledge and understanding of how to use patience. Try the online Bible Study Patience from God; Endure Life Troubles with Genuine Joy; hopefully, it will help.

Do not give up or be in a hurry. Learn to use patience, my friends, wait on the Lord; until next time—be blessed—♥ Tim.

Message in the picture:

“Joy – Get excited about the guaranteed hope of living forever with God. – Make heaven your dream and what you hope for; not a home or things on earth!”

Scripture for the day:

1 Thessalonians 1:5-6 For our gospel came to you not in word only but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and with full conviction. You know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. 6 And you became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word despite much affliction, with joy from the Holy Spirit: (RKJNT)

Thought for the day

Joy from the Spirit; Now Make Heaven Your Hope

Quit thinking like people who do not know the Lord. They desire and pursue things that do not last and for most are hard to get. Things like the ‘ideal’ person, a home, the latest technology or a new car. It is time for the children of God to change their way of thinking and what they desire.

Get excited about the guaranteed hope of living forever with God. Make heaven the focus of your dreams. It should be what you hope for. Live like a child of promise and look forward to what God has for us in heaven, not a home or things on earth. No one can steal this joy!

Maintain your joy in the Lord my friends, until next time—be blessed— Tim.

Scripture for the day:

Colossians 3:12-13 God has chosen you and made you his holy people. He loves you. So your new life should be like this: Show mercy to others. Be kind, humble, gentle, and patient.

13 Don’t be angry with each other, but forgive each other. If you feel someone has wronged you, forgive them. Forgive others because the Lord forgave you.’ (ERV)

Thought for the day:

Learn to use the Godly quality, gentleness, better.
1 Peter 2:9 But God chose you to be his people. You are royal priests. You are a holy nation. You are God’s special treasure. You are all these things so that you can give him praise. God brought you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (NIRV)

As children of the King of kings, you are royalty. You were born into the royal holy family by the Holy Spirit. You have qualities considered proper to those of good birth or high social standing; refined; polite and distinguished.

Message in the picture:

“Be fruitful in good works – increase your knowledge of God – Fruit of the Spirit – from Colossians 1:10”

picture of long beach sunset for fruit of the spirit bible study link

Scripture for the day:

Colossians 1:5-6 and 10 Because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you have already heard in the word of truth, the gospel; 6 Which has come to you. In all the world it brings forth fruit and grows, as it does also in you, since the day you heard of it, and understood the grace of God in truth:
10 That you might walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please him in all things, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; (RKJNT)

Thought for the day

Colossians 1:6 and 10 introduce an action word karpophoreo (kar-pof-or-eh’-o) meaning making fruit in great quantities; be fertile. Notice verse 5 “the word of truth, the gospel…brings forth fruit and grows“; can we agree that from these Scriptures the unity of Christ, the Spirit and the word working in us will produce fruit.

The fruit that the Spirit produces cannot be imitated, I remind you, Jesus clearly states that we cannot do anything without Him (see John 15:2-8). Be fruitful in good works and be blessed— Tim.

How to Love People Like God and Hate Sin

bible study, Uncategorized
Learn to hate your sin i.e., the sin in your life. Go to the updated Bible study: “Hater; How To Love People Like God and Hate…”. Visit the Sound Truth Ministry website: the link to this Bible study.

Message in the picture:

“Learn to hate YOUR sin – A sinner does not fear the Lord; they are not aware of and hate their sin. – from Psalms 36:1-4″

picture of Hollywood sunset for sin nature hater

Scripture for the day:

Psalms 36:1-4 The sin of the evil-doer says in his heart, There is no fear of the Lord before his eyes. 2 For he takes comfort in the thought that his sin will not be uncovered and hated. 3 In the words of his mouth are evil and deceit; he has given up being wise and doing good. 4 He gives thought to evil on his bed; he takes a way which is not good; he is not a hater of evil. (BBE)

Thought for the day

Learn how to love people like God and become a hater of the sin in your life. Romans 3:21-26 verse 23 “all have sinned” and 1 John 1:8 “If we say that we have no sin, we lie to ourselves and the truth is not in us.” (NLV) [read Ecclesiastes 7:20; Galatians 3:19-25 (key verse: 22); 1 John 1:5-10 (key verses: 8-10); James 3:1-12 (key verse: 2)]

Paul explains it in Romans 7:14-25, notice his statement at the end of verse 15 “but what I hate is the very thing I do.” (RKJNT) [read Jude 17-23(23); Zechariah 3:1-7 (3-5)]. He acknowledged and spoke of the sin in his life. Are you able to do the same?

Like it or not I use God’s word to point you to the truth :-). I have learned to be a sin nature hater, but lover of all people with the love of God. So, yes, I am a hater of the sinful nature that is first of all within me and the sinful human nature of others, but I am also a lover of people.

The goal is to use the truth, God’s word, to warn my friends and help us learn to hate sin but to love each other without prejudice. My prayer is that you learn to do so in Jesus name and be blessed— Tim.

“How Can I Improve?”

Scripture for the day:
2 Corinthians 13:5-10 Examine yourselves to see whether you are still in the Christian faith. Test yourselves! Don’t you recognize that you are people in whom Jesus Christ lives? Could it be that you’re failing the test? 6 I hope that you will realize that we haven’t failed the test. 7 We pray to God that you won’t do anything wrong. It’s not that we want to prove that we’ve passed the test. Rather, we want you to do whatever is right, even if we seem to have failed.

8 We can’t do anything against the truth but only to help the truth. 9 We’re glad when we are weak and you are strong. We are also praying for your improvement.

10 That’s why I’m writing this letter while I’m not with you. When I am with you I don’t want to be harsh by using the authority that the Lord gave me. The Lord gave us this authority to help you, not to hurt you. (GW)

Thought for the dayChanged Life; Have You Absolutely Changed For the Good?
Have you asked yourself, ‘how can I improve?’ There are so many areas in life where this may benefit those who are not ‘perfect’ :-).

As Paul encouraged the Corinthians, I too urge each of you (I include myself) to take time today to examine your life to see where you can improve.

Let’s do all we can to be and do better for the good of others and self. Make it a priority to make self-improvements this week and be blessed— Tim.

Stop Acting Holy; Be Holy and Please the Lord

bible study, Uncategorized

Message in the picture:
“Hypocrite – Stop Acting Holy, Be Holy – A hypocrite is a spiritually blind, self-righteous and often wicked person. That has a form of godliness while hiding their sins from others (often from themselves). They act as if they are better than they are.”

picture of san diego for pretender

Scripture for the day:
Galatians 2:11-14 _When Peter came to Antioch, he did something that was not right. I stood against him, because he was wrong. 12 This is what happened: When Peter first came to Antioch, he ate and associated with the non-Jewish people. But when some Jewish men came from James, Peter separated himself from the non-Jews. He stopped eating with them, because he was afraid of the Jews who believe that all non-Jewish people must be circumcised.

13 So Peter was a hypocrite. The other Jewish believers joined with him, so they were hypocrites too. Even Barnabas was influenced by what these Jewish believers did. 14 They were not following the truth of the Good News. When I saw this, I spoke to Peter in front of everyone. I said, “Peter, you are a Jew, but you don’t live like one. You live like someone who is not a Jew. So why are you trying to force those who are not Jewish to live like Jews?”_ (ERV)

Thought for the dayHypocrite Alert – Impress God In Life Not Other People
The sin of hypocrisy is easy to hide from people. The pretender rarely feels guilt and therefore does not repent. They must remember God sees through the mask and knows they are not honest. For your own good, stop acting holy, be holy. Live a life that pleases God. Be blessed—♥ Tim.
